Oct 2015 Okotoks Ranked as 4th Best Mid-sized Canadian Community to Start and Grow a Business

In a newly released report by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), Okotoks ranked fourth among cities and towns with a population under 150,000 for being a great place to run a business. Furthermore, the Calgary periphery (which include Okotoks) ranked first in the country amongst large markets.

The CFIB competition focuses 14 entrepreneurship indicators across the three main categories of presence, perspective and policy. One area Okotoks excelled in is the actions local governments take with respect to business taxation and regulation. The Town of Okotoks does not charge a business tax for the majority of businesses allowing businesses to operate in an affordable environment while being located in a sustainable and very active community. Another is having a strong entrepreneurial environments with lower overall operating costs than larger city centers, while still having strong access to large markets. In Okotoks case these large markets include having Calgary next door as well as convenient access to the Foothills region, British Columbia and the US.
