Apr 2016 Okotoks Means Business – Town Wins Two Economic Development Provincial Awards

Okotoks’ Economic Development team has been awarded two Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) Awards of Excellence. The Community Award for Business and Investment Attraction for a medium-sized community (population from 25,001-100,000) as well as the prestigious Alex Metcalfe Award recognizing the “best of the best” for Business Investment and Attraction in the province were presented during the April 2016 Annual Conference of Economic Developers Alberta.

The awards recognized Okotoks’ successful 2015 tourism marketing campaign run within the Calgary market as well as the 2015 Okotoks Visitor & Activities Guide. Okotoks economic development team undertakes a broad range of activities to promote and support Okotoks businesses and the community. Their annual tourism campaign is seen as a tool aimed at attracting new business and investment to diversify the Okotoks economy as well as a key means of attracting additional visitors to the town and its existing businesses and amenities.

The Economic Development Alberta awards honour Alberta individuals for their contribution to the profession; as well as Alberta communities for excellence in Business and Investment Attraction (BIA); Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) and Community Economic Development (CED).
